Travel Log: Sheliak

So we almost one of those golden Magnus that Xelha wants to keep out of Geldoblame's hands. Only somebody got "hypnotized" and handed it to Ayme. It's all the same to me, really, but I guess opposing Geldoblame is like opposing Giacomo.

Xelha and Gibari insisted on taking Lyude along. We really have to be careful, with all these weirdos following us, somebody might betray us. You know, like trying to steal the end magnus from us. (WHY are we talking Lyude with us again?)

At least we're getting some well-deserved rest, even if Castle Elnath is pretty trashed right now. Thanks to Toki, I got "convinced" into helping them out. So while I was pushing rubble around, the rest of them were relaxing and enjoying King Ladekahn's food.

Can't wait for this little journey to be over. Giacomo isn't getting any deader with me wasting time here.

(OOC: Okay, so now the characters can reply to their thoughts on this. XD and kick Kalas and stuff.)

I'm sorry you think of me as a traitor. I understand that it must be a little strange to see me, from the Imperial Army, wanting to join you. I don't really have anything to say in my defence, I'm afraid, because I fear that you will simply accuse me of lying, or you just won't believe me.

I've learned to be self-sufficient. I promise, you'll hardly notice my presence, if it is indeed that which annoys you so.

Xelha and Gibari may buy the hypnosis thing, but I don't. I mean, it's awfully convenient that you happened to be with us and happened to be under Ayme's control.

And besides, even if that IS the truth, how do we know that Giacomo can't just snap his fingers and turn you into his puppet again?

...!!

I said I was sorry. Please, I'm not asking you to trust me fully, I'm just asking you to accept my apology. I saw the End Magnus and then I honestly don't remember what happened next.

Besides... what other use would the Empire have for me? They have more able and more respected soldiers in their ranks, more obedient soldiers too. They have no other use for me, that's why I'm the Ambassador for Diadem.

It could all be just an act. After all, nobody would suspect you of being a spy, not the way you're all bumbling and naive. Xelha and Gibari certainly don't.

And even if you WERE exiled, acting a spy would probably regain the Emperor's favor, now wouldn't it?

...

Are you that determined to see the worst of me? Say I am a spy, who am I going to correspond to and how am I going to contact them? Even the doctor said I was under hypnosis - are you going to accuse him of being a spy too?

I'm going to accuse him of being bad at his job.

But whatever. If anything does happen, I'll know who to blame.

Awww, cm'on Kalas, he's a good kid. Something like the End Magnus is bound to have a powerful impact on anyone that picks it up.

I'm sure you can trust him! He's definitely for the good guys - I can tell.

The rest of us seemed fine.

And I just think if I'm going to be forced on some sort of crazy "save the world" adventure that I don't want to be on, I should at least be able to pick my travel companions. I don't want anybody untrustworthy at my side. I mean, look at him! He's already betrayed his homeland. How do we know he won't just turn on us when the next opportunity strikes?

Thank you, Gibari. It's a great comfort to know someone believes in me.

But I shall just now pretend that I can't hear what Kalas is saying.

First off Kalas; according to Xella, you were really out of it at Sadal Suud when YOU found the End Magnus.

Secondly, wouldn't you want to distance yourself from your homeland if it had Geldoblame as it's ruler? I mean, really - it's pretty messed up over there.

He has to have family over there, right? I'd never betray my family.

I think my point is still valid. He can travel with us if you're that dead-set on it, but I don't trust him.

To be honest with you, I doubt my family is quite as... caring as your family, but this really isn't a subject I want to talk about. I am grateful that you are letting me travel with you, of course.

...please, could we change the subject? I am uncomfortable speaking about this.

[info]flameofdiadem

August 7 2005, 18:33:07 UTC 6 years ago

Not that I have any expertise on the subject (you will recall, I am sure, my disastrous performance with the Empire's vanguard), but I believe the Ambassador to be sincere. I see no reason why he should not accompany your group - after all, considering his actions in the battle against the Iron Beetle, he may even be of some use to you in your search for the End Magnus. As he says, he is more than capable of defending both himself and others. Besides which, consider this: if you are uncertain of his allegiance, would it not be wiser to keep him where you can see him? Personally, I do not believe he is still working for the Empire, but nevertheless, it would be better for all concerned if you knew what he was doing at any given time. Keep the End Magnus from him if you will. Acting alone he would stand no chance to successfully oppose the company, and if the Magnus you gain are kept under close watch he should have no opportunity to obtain them by more subtle means. If, that is, he intends to betray you at all, which I strongly doubt.

In any case, I would suggest that you be more considerate towards Lyude. You win yourself neither sympathy nor allies by chastising him for his part in events that were, to the best of your knowledge, beyond his control. Mistrust him if you will, but mistreat him and you become the villain. And as you well know, villains invariably suffer for their misdeeds.

Yeah, whatever, Lyude will stay with us and then when something goes wrong at least we'll have an easy scapegoat. Toki's been bothering me about it as well so if it'll make him shut up anything's good. (I still love you Toki, I do, but you're getting a bit repetitive.)

I guess it'll be hard to avenge my family alone anyway, and slowing down the Empire will definitely further my goals so I'll let the whole lot of them follow me. Actually, I'll let Xelha drag me around. And if the world gets saved accidentally and Lyude helped whatever I don't care.

[info]_lyude_

August 7 2005, 18:49:03 UTC 6 years ago

I would prefer it if I was not automatically your scapegoat. I may be a traitor, but that doesn't mean that I'm guilty for everything.

[info]_one_winged

August 7 2005, 18:49:57 UTC 6 years ago

Well, take it or leave it. You could always just stay here and wallow in your misery some more.

[info]_lyude_

August 7 2005, 18:53:07 UTC 6 years ago

I never said I didn't want to come with you, just that I would prefer not being your scapegoat. Surely we shall be a team, so teamwork will be essential.

There is no need to antagonise him, Kalas. You might find that you make less enemies by keeping your silence.

Kalas...the look on your face...priceless! *laughs*

And don't worry, dear boy. Your turn will come, eventually. I only hope it comes at my hands.

((ooc: Oops. Well, it was on the RP community journal, and it wasn't marked as private or allies-only, so...ah well. Besides, if that was the case, then Lyude and Folon probably shouldn't really be having their little "debate" over at Folon's home journal^_^))

(OOC: Yeah - posts here should probably be marked if they're allies-only. It might not make much sense for Ayme to know everything of what was going on, but it isn't entirely inappropriate for her to join in here just to have a laugh at Kalas' expense. Private posts...hmm, maybe private posts should be marked with who can read them? If Ayme's looking for something to do, there's nothing to stop the bad guys putting a writeup like Kalas' one here in the community. ^_^)
